Maidstone: Warning issued after schoolgirl approached by unknown driver

Police are investigating after a teenage girl was approached by two men in a black BMW on the way to school.

Officers received a report that the teenage girl was walking along Oakwood Road, Maidstone at around 8.30am when two men she did not know in a car stopped beside her.

It is reported the passenger, who is described as wearing a grey and beige jumper, got out of the car and appeared to follow her for a short while. The driver is described as being dark-skinned.

St Simon Stock School has issued a warning to pupils and to remind them of the dangers of speaking to strangers.

A similar communication has also been sent from nearby Maplesden Noakes after staff were made aware of the situation.

An email to parents from the Buckland Road school said: "Please can parents speak to their children and ensure they walk to and from school in pairs as a minimum and do not engage with strangers or anyone in cars."
