Revellers flock to Kent Showground in Detling for The Social

More than 2,000 revellers will brave the cold and flock to Maidstone this weekend for the return of a popular music festival.

People from across the country have snapped up tickets for a winter version of The Social kicking off at the Kent Showground in Detling from 12pm today.

The flagship event has been held in Mote Park for the last three years in September, with line-ups boasting Carl Cox, Ben Pearce and Gorgon City, but the team couldn’t wait 12-months to host another of their all-day concerts.

The bill includes Maidstone-born DJ Nic Fanciulli, owner of Saved Records, who is one of the main organisers.

Buses will be laid on to ferry the crowds between the town centre and the venue.

The stage area is covered, heated and fully floored. Sound engineers will be on hand throughout the day to monitor noise levels.

Residents complained that noise levels were too high at the summer festival, but organisers say the new out-of-town location means less residents will be affected.
