A 73-year-old woman was taken to a London hospital after she was struck by a car.

The pensioner was hit by a BMW on The Hill, in Cranbrook, on Friday.

Witnesses said they saw a person lying on the ground, near to the town's windmill, with blankets over them.

South East Coast Ambulance Service was called at about 5.45pm and sent three cars and one ambulance to the scene.

Kent Police also attended.

The patient was examined on the roadside before she was taken to Kings College Hospital.

It’s believed the casualty suffered injuries to her leg and arm. Her wounds were not thought to be life threatening.

The road, which leads onto Stone Street, is mainly residential with a 20mph speed limit.
