Monique Dwyer charged with absconding from HMP East Sutton Park in Sutton Valence just 3-and-a-half months before the end of her sentence

A woman previously convicted of manslaughter has been charged with absconding from an open prison more than 10 years ago.

Monique Dwyer was just three-and-a-half months from finishing her sentence for manslaughter at HMP East Sutton Park, in Sutton Valence, when she left the prison and failed to return during September, 2006.

Kent Police completed an investigation into her disappearance at the time and subsequent enquiries included Dwyer’s image being circulated on the force’s Most Wanted gallery.

Dwyer was convicted for running Franklin King over with his own car, a Mercedes Benz, after stealing it from a filling station in Dagenham.

Mr King clung to the bonnet in an attempt to stop her but was thrown into the road and later died in hospital.

On Saturday, Dwyer, 31 and of no fixed address, was found and arrested in Studley Road, Stockwell, London.

Dwyer was due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
