Woman treated for smoke inhalation after Tunbridge Wells kitchen fire

A woman in her 30s was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in her home overnight.

Two fire engines were sent to St James Road at 12.50am.

It took firefighters wearing breathing apparatus nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze, which had taken hold in the kitchen.

It is believed to have been caused by a faulty extractor fan.

The woman was treated at the scene by ambulance crews.

Around 20 per cent of the kitchen was damaged by fire and 80 per cent was damaged by heat and smoke.
