Maidstone are in talks to bring Ade Olorunda back to the club – a week after he quit.

United are down to three strikers after £6,000 signing Stuart King rejoined Folkestone for an undisclosed fee this week.

Olorunda, who scored twice in the play-off final win over Faversham, was disappointed by Stones’ decision to release his brother Tim.

But he wrote on Twitter he was leaving the club due to work and tax implications and Stones manager Jay Saunders hasn’t given up hope Olorunda may return.

He said: “We’ve spoken with Ade this week to see if there’s anything we can do. We’ve released him but it’s not dead. We’re still trying to work on something.

“He was keen to stay and I didn’t want to lose him. It’s a long story but he has a good job and with his earnings here, he goes into a higher tax bracket."

Saunders is in no rush to bring in another striker should talks with Olorunda break down.
That’s despite the departure of King, who has signed a two-year deal at Cheriton Road.

Saunders said: “I’d heard rumours Kingy wasn’t enjoying it here and would rather be back at Folkestone. I don’t regret signing him because he scored important goals for us."
