Maidstone United captain Stuart Lewis believes new assistant boss Steve Watt will have a big influence

Stuart Lewis is looking forward to working with new Maidstone assistant manager Steve Watt.

Lewis enjoyed his time with Nicky Southall but the change has been made and the captain is interested to see what Jay Saunders' new No.2 has in store.

Midfielder Lewis said: "Obviously Nicky's left and I'd like to put on record I appreciate the work he's done.

"I know Steve through Lee Worgan and I briefly saw him at Ebbsfleet when he was with the youth team and I was playing there.

"I'm sure he'll have us well structured and have a big influence on how we do things and how we train.

"He's played at a good level himself so it'll be good to get some information and watch him work and see how he sets us up, along with the manager.

"It's a fresh start and hopefully it can lift the whole club."

Lewis has seen Joe Anderson, Reece Prestedge, Delano Sam-Yorke, Tom Wraight and Jai Reason move on.

But there's been no news on players' player-of-the-year Alex Wynter, while Alex Finney is considering his options after his year on loan.

Lewis said: "The club have made decisions and we have to move on ourselves and have a real good at it next year.

"With the other lads, it's down to them as individuals.

"We have to worry about what we're doing and if they want to be a part of it, they will be.

"If they decide to stay then brilliant and if they don't then good luck to them and hopefully they further their careers."
