Zac Attwood is waiting on interest from Football League clubs before committing his future to Maidstone.

Striker Attwood scored 24 goals for United in his first season at the Gallagher Stadium after signing from Margate.

The 25-year-old has held talks over a new deal but could yet leave the club.

Boss Jay Saunders said: “We’ve kind of reached an agreement but Zac wants to see if any pro clubs come in for him. He has ambitions to play in the Football League, which I’d never have a problem with.

“He just wants a week to see if anything’s going to happen. If anyone is looking to sign him, it’ll happen now."

There were doubts over Attwood’s goalscoring ability when Saunders signed him. He’s proved people wrong but Saunders feels he may need another prolific season under his belt.

He added: “I said to Zac on the phone that he’s done it for one season. Top players produce season-in, season-out and if you look at Zac’s record before he came here, it hasn’t been great. He’s got to do it consistently.”
