The responsibility of taking Alex Flisher’s place won’t get to Ben Greenhalgh.

Maidstone will turn to Greenhalgh in the absence of injured winger Flisher, with the 22-year-old set to start against Hendon on Saturday.

The former Inter Milan player is ready for a run of games but feels it’s down to everyone to ensure United fire without 16-goal Flisher.

Greenhalgh said: “I know the fans will miss Flish because he’s their favourite but we have big characters in the team. It’s not down to me to replace him – we have a lot of players who can make things happen.

“I’ve played with Flish since I was 16 and I know what he gives you. He’s physical and powerful and it’s effective in this league, especially with the amount of goals he’s scored with his head as well.

“He’s dangerous on the left but I think he’s more dangerous up front. You saw that when he moved up front against Wrexham. We only had 10 men but he was causing them so many problems.

“Playing on the left, there’s only a couple of things you can do – drive forward and cross – but down the middle you see more of the game.”

Greenhalgh started nine out of 11 matches between August and October but has been used from the bench since.
