Frannie Collin is staying at Maidstone.

The striker has agreed a one-year contract and will again lead the line alongside Jay May, who also signed a one-year deal at the Gallagher this week.

The pair scored almost 50 goals between them to fire Maidstone to the Ryman League Premier Division title and boss Jay Saunders expects them to flourish again in National League South.

He said: “You look at Frannie over the last 10 seasons and he’s never scored less than 20 goals. You can’t afford to lose someone with a record like that and it didn’t take long to do a deal.

“Speaking to him, his record is better in Conference South than Ryman Premier. He thinks he’ll get a bit more time on the ball and the higher level might suit him better."

May, meanwhile, can't wait for the pair to terrorise National League South defences.

He said: “I’m well pleased Frannie’s staying. I played with him at Tonbridge as well and we’ve always worked well together."

May was relegated from Conference South with Billericay after going up as Ryman League champions but he can’t see Stones struggling.

He said: “Billericay didn’t have the resources to push on. It’s a little bit different here because Maidstone should be at this level and need to be at this level. I’m sure Jay will add to what we’ve got to make us competitive.”
