Kent has its first Commonwealth Games champions of 2018 after gymnasts Courtney Tulloch and James Hall helped England land team gold.

Tulloch and Hall, from Pegasus Gymnastics Club in Maidstone, were in the five-man England team who finished a massive 10 points clear of Canada on the Gold Coast in Australia this morning.

It’s triple joy for Pegasus as the club’s head coach, Ionut Trandaburu, captained the England team.

Hall competed impressively on all six apparatus as England won their first gold medal of the Games, including a brilliant high bar routine.

Tulloch, who’s forged a reputation as a rings specialist, also showed his talents with a complicated parallel bar routine.

The pair also have individual finals to look forward to but had made team gold their priority.

Hall, speaking to KentOnline before the Games, said: "The team event's up first and that will be the focus really.

"I always prefer to devote all my energy to the team event, for the other guys, and it's nice to go out there as a team rather than just yourself.

"That'll be the main bit but any extra medals will be a bonus.”

Tulloch said: "Our ultimate goal is to focus on the team competition but we want to win everything.

"We want to be top of the podium in the team and our goal is first and second on every other piece."
