Maidstone United striker Delano Sam-Yorke confident the goals will come

Delano Sam-Yorke is sure the goals will start flowing.

Last season’s loan star is yet to score since making a permanent switch to Maidstone over the summer.

He’s had some big chances in Stones’ eight National League games but the wait goes on.

There’d be no better time for the striker to break his duck than against his old club Woking at the Gallagher on Saturday.

Sam-Yorke said: “I’m in a positive space at the moment.

“I haven’t been doing too well in front of goal but I’m excited to play against Woking and it’ll be good to see some old faces.

“All-round, I think I’ve been playing well actually. I’ve missed a few chances but at least I’m getting those chances.

“I haven’t been taking them but I’m sure my luck will turn soon.

“I’m feeling positive, I’m feeling good and I’m looking forward to the first goal.

“I should have scored at least four by now.

“We’re talking four very good chances but that’s football.

“If I was scoring every chance I’d be in the Premier League but I’m not.”

Sam-Yorke has played down the middle and on the right of a front three this season.

Wherever he’s been used, he’s offered the workrate that made him such a big favourite while on loan from Woking last season.

They say the harder you work, the luckier you get, so it’s surely a matter of time before Sam-Yorke finds the net.

He said: “I’m sure the goals will come soon.

“I try not to let it get to me. I’m not going to lie, sometimes you overthink things but, as a footballer, you can’t dwell on it too much.

“You just have keep going, keep training hard and I’m sure my luck will turn soon.

“I scored a few goals last year but what can I say? I’m trying, I’m always going to be positive.

“It’s not like I’m not working hard. I always put 100% in to my performances.

“I’ve been doing a lot of defensive work as well, I’m tracking back quite a lot.

“I just put my all in for the team. As long as we win and as long as we’re playing well, I can’t really complain.”
