Alex Flisher to leave Maidstone United after rejecting new contract

Crowd favourite Alex Flisher has been transfer-listed by Maidstone United after rejecting a new deal.

Flisher, who made his debut in 2009, is set to leave the Gallagher this summer after 275 appearances for his hometown club.

Work and personal commitments - his first baby is due in July - mean the forward cannot commit to National League football and daytime training.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “It’s been a pleasure to have him here at the club and I can only wish him well in his future career.

“Like everyone connected with the club, I’d have loved to have seen him in a Stones shirt next season but I respect his decision to put his family first – that’s the way it should be.”

Stones chief executive Bill Williams added: “Alex has been a great servant to the club and will be sorely missed.

“We thank him for all he’s done for his hometown team and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

Tom Mills and Magnus Okuonghae have until tomorrow (Friday) to decide their future.
