Roseacre Junior School won the Maidstone Mini World Cup – after going the whole tournament without conceding a goal!

Representing Greece, they beat Chile (Sandling) 1-0 in a keenly-contested final at Maidstone United's Gallagher Stadium.

Freddie Martin scored the only goal of the final after being set up by Luke Still, although the 11-year-old was still coming to terms with being able to say he scored the winning goal in a World Cup final after the game.

“I’m pleased to have scored in a World Cup final,” he beamed. “It just caps a fantastic day for us all.

“It was great to score and I’ve had a great day.”
