Midfielder Jai Reason has chart at home to predict Maidstone United results

Jai Reason is plotting Maidstone’s success – from his living room.

Reason has a secret chart at home for predicting United’s National League results.

The midfielder and his fiancee are the only two people who know what’s on it – he’s not even sharing his targets with team-mates.

In-form Reason, one of United’s standout players this season, said: “I’ve got a chart at home where I’ve got a set amount of points that I want to get each month and if we stick to it, then we’re going to be there or thereabouts.

“I’ve just started doing it this season. I’ve set inside my head how many points we need and I think we’re well on track.

“It’s on the wall and I tell my missus to write down the numbers as soon as I get on the phone to her after a game.

“I’ll keep what it says to myself and let you know in April. The players don’t know, either, it’s just me and my missus and we just keep ticking them off and hopefully come April, we’re there or thereabouts.”

Reason has called on fifth-placed Maidstone to follow up their battling win at Torquay last weekend. They host struggling Solihull Moors on Saturday and his old club Boreham Wood on Tuesday night.

Reason said: “We’ve got two home games now and we need to get a result on Saturday because you can’t go all the way down to Torquay and get three points unless you back it up with a good home win.

“We’ll be working on it and seeing how we can cause problems for Solihull.

“We’ve got that attitude where teams can throw anything at us and we’ll deal with it. I think Torquay showed what good character we’ve got in the side.

“We weren’t at our best but good teams go to places like that and pick up a

result.

“There was going to be one moment of quality to get us a win and Joe Pigott provided it with the free-kick. He gave us something to hold on to and then I thought we defended brilliantly with our backs to the wall.

“It’s a great result but it means nothing if we don’t back it up.”
