Ben Louch follows up his second place in the Larkfield 10k last year with victory in 2013

Ben Louch of Dartford Road Runners was the man in top form at the Larkfield 10k on Sunday as 320 athletes enjoyed the gentle undulations around East Malling Research Centre and local villages.

Louch, who was second here last year, covered the two laps in 34min21sec to finish clear of first M40 master Paul Hasler (Paddock Wood, 35:02) and Nathan Chapman of the host club Larkfield AC (35:32).

Local men under 40 minutes were Stephen Throssell (Larkfield, 36:24); David Hall (M40 Dartford RR, 36:31); Nick Varley (M40 Dartford Harriers, 37:05); Martin Taylor (M40 Larkfield, 37:23); Chris Desmond (M50 Sevenoaks, 37:52) and Istead and Ifield Harriers’ Derek George (M40, 38:36) and Andrew Archer (M40, 39:11).

Two classy over-45s also finished well inside the 40-minute benchmark in the women’s race. Paddock Wood’s Maria Heslop (37:16) was tenth overall and team mate Tina Oldershaw (38:26) was five places further back. Heslop is now the fourth ranked in Britain in her age group.

Top locals under 45 minutes were Pauline Dalton (W45 Sevenoaks, 42:51); Caroline Terburgh (W35 Larkfield, 42:51); Katarina Summers (W35 Swanley, 34:09); Sarah Anne Mooney (Larkfield, 43:14) and Julie Stoppani (W50 Maidstone Harriers, 43:42). Alison White (Paddock Wood, 48:40) was the leading W55 master athlete.
