A dramatic finish at The Belmont saw Herne Bay beat Whitstable 2-1 in the first round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.

It looked like Town had taken the tie to penalties when Matty Guila struck in injury-time to cancel out Stuart King's second-half opener but Dan Johnson headed Bay's winner.

Matt Wyatt's final game in charge at Sittingbourne ended in a 1-0 defeat by Faversham.

Wyatt, who has quit following disagreements with the committee, saw Brickies beaten by Sam Bewick's fifth-minute goal.

New signing Alex Akrofi was among the scorers as holders Maidstone came from two goals down to beat Cray Wanderers.

Ramsgate scored a last-minute equaliser against Folkestone, then won 4-3 on penalties.

Ian Draycott gave Invicta the lead on 76 minutes but Mitchell Knight took the tie to spot-kicks.

Margate were 2-0 winners at home to Hythe thanks to Joshua Donnelly and a Jason Prior penalty.

Tonbridge Angels reached the second round with a 2-1 home victory over Chatham.

Lewis Knight's own goal and Alex Teniola put Angels in charge, with Junior Kaffo replying midway through the second half.
