Maidstone defender Sonny Miles won’t let Tonbridge fans get to him when he returns to his old club.

Miles made more than 200 appearances for Angels before leaving for big rivals United in the summer.

Ryman League Premier Division leaders Stones host Bury Town at the Gallagher Stadium tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm) before a Bank Holiday Monday derby at Tonbridge (also 3pm).

Miles is certain he made the right decision to move after 12 years at Longmead.

He said: “I’d like to think I’ll get a half-decent reception but there’s always a minority who want to try and get in your head.

“It won’t bother me if they get on my back – I took enough stick when I was playing there!

“It makes no difference to me. I’ll take one for the boys.

"Every player will move at some point in their career. It wasn't right for me or my family to stay at Tonbridge.

“I thought about leaving the year before but I wanted to give it one more year in Conference South.

“I've moved on now and hope the fans can after Monday.”
