Jay Saunders has ruled out a move for ex-Maidstone loanee Tom Phipp.

United boss Saunders is in talks with a central midfielder but it's not Phipp, who's looking for a new club following his release by Margate.

Saunders said: "I've no interest in Phippy. I liked him and he did well in the short time he was here but he's not the sort of player I'm looking for."

Midfield is an area Saunders wants to strengthen having decided to move Jack Parkinson back into defence.

He added: "I'm speaking to someone at the moment.

"I've met him and had a good chat but there's interest from other clubs.

"We're not a million miles away but it's one of them where he might have a chance to play higher."
