Maidstone defender Jack Parkinson is closing in on a move to Leyton Orient.

The League 2 club have made an offer to Parkinson, who has been on trial at Brisbane Road, and Stones boss Jay Saunders has encouraged him to accept.

Saunders said: "He's been offered a deal by Orient and I think he's in talks, so I expect Jack will be leaving.

"I've kind of said to him now we're at a point where he's missed most of pre-season and I think it's best he finds another club.

"I expect him to be gone in the next week or so really.

"I know there's a couple of other National South teams interested in him as well but if he takes Orient's offer I think he'll do all right in the league.

"You never know until you test yourself. I told him he'd be silly not to take it, go and test yourself, and I think that's what he'll do."

Saunders has replacements in mind, including a possible loan signing.
