Grant Dennis and Dave Jones win titles as Kent boxers star at Maidstone Leisure Centre

There was a home shut-out on the Mote Park Destruction bill on Saturday night.

All seven Kent boxers won on points at Maidstone Leisure Centre as professional boxing returned to the county town for the first time in 16 years.

Chatham's Grant Dennis (5-0-0), topping the bill, beat Jan Balog (10-28-1) over eight rounds to win the international challenge middleweight title.

Sheppey boxer Dave Jones (6-0-0) claimed the heavyweight version of the title with victory over Jiri Svacina.

Chris Matthews (3-0-0) was a winner on his home show, the 21-year-old outpointing Harvey Hemsley (3-24-1) over four rounds at lightweight.

It was a fourth straight victory and his best performance yet, with the bout widely viewed as the fight of the night as Matthews put together four and five-punch combinations from the first round.

Louis Greene, from Strood, also made it four wins out of four in pro boxing, taking care of late-replacement Jamie Quinn (2-26-2) in a super-lightweight contest.

Another Medway fighter, Chatham's Charlie Shane (1-0-0), beat Liam Griffiths at middleweight (4-62-1) while Martin Hillman (6-2-0), from Sidcup, saw off Tamas Laska (8-7-1) in a super-featherweight clash.

Elvis Makoda (1-1-2) beat Billy Parker (2-1-0) at super-lightweight for his second professional victory.
