Bromley 2 Maidstone United 2 match report

Blair Turgott scored a debut goal against his old club as Maidstone rescued a point at Bromley.

Turgott, who joined on loan from Boreham Wood on Friday, had only been on the pitch 12 minutes when he made it 2-2.

Another Stones debutant, Dean Beckwith, was sent off in second-half injury time.

Josh Rees had given Bromley an early lead, with Jamar Loza scoring United’s first equaliser.

Maidstone named two of their three new loan signings in the starting line-up with Beckwith coming in at centre-half and Ross Lafayette up front.

The other new arrival, winger Turgott, was introduced midway through the second half and soon made his presence count.

The Stones trailed after 20 seconds at Hayes Lane last season and lasted only five minutes this time as Bromley took another early lead.

It was a horrible goal to concede with a defensive mix-up on the edge of the area presenting Josh Rees with an open goal.

Bromley, who’d won four of their last five, looked confident on the ball and played some nice football against a Stones side who took a while to clear their heads.

Maidstone did grow into the game, a good chance falling to Lafayette after the flag stayed down from Jai Reason’s pass, but he lifted the ball over the bar.

Loza tried his luck from distance a couple of times before Maidstone equalised in the 35th minute.

It came from a short corner played by Reason to Joe Anderson whose cross was headed back across goal by Coker for Loza to finish in the six-yard box,

Ollie Muldoon, making a rare start, went down twice in a matter of minutes and had to go as the former Charlton man’s injury curse struck again.

It contributed to five minutes’ added time, during which Rees wasted a golden chance from Luke Wanadio’s cut-back for Bromley before Loza was snuffed out by Ben Chorley after a poor header presented him with the ball.

With injury time virtually up, Wanadio’s lovely pass played in Porter, whose finish was equally impressive as Bromley went 2-1 up.

Reason started a good move early in the second half but scuffed his finish from Coker’s cutback, Lafayette and substitute Jack Paxman also featuring as Maidstone missed a good chance to level.

Bromley might have added a third before the hour after the ball dropped to Brandon Hanlon in a decent position.

Maidstone levelled for the second time on 77 minutes.

Substitute Turgott picked up possession on the edge of the box and rounded a defender and keeper David Gregory before rolling the ball into the net for 2-2.

Worgan made an outstanding low save in a crowded penalty area in the last five minutes, while Turgott’s ambitious free-kick, after Coker was wiped out by Jordan Higgs in full flow, went wide.

Beckwith, already booked, was sent off for bringing down Hanlan in injury time.

Maidstone: Worgan, Wynter, Loza (Turgott 65mins), Lewis, Muldoon (Paxman 42mins), Anderson, Reason (Sam-Yorke 76mins), Twumasi, Beckwith, Lafayette, Coker. Subs not used: Hare, Osei.

Attendance: 2,027 (504 away).
