Manager Jay Saunders expects Maidstone to cope without their suspended trio.

Captain Steve Watt, midfielder James Rogers and striker Billy Bricknell start two-match bans when United meet struggling Witham at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

They will also miss the League Cup quarter-final at Hendon on Monday night (7.45pm).

Jamie Coyle, Alex Brown and Matt Bodkin are likely to replace them in Maidstone’s first home game since a shock 3-0 defeat by Enfield three weeks ago.

Saunders, whose side are six points clear at top of the Ryman League, Premier Division, said: “In a way it’s nice we’ve got the cup at Hendon on Monday as it means they only miss one league game but we’ve got the squad to cope without them.

"When you look at our bench at Wingate, people like Ben Greenhalgh, Jamie Coyle, Matt Bodkin and Alex Brown would get in 90% of sides in the league.

“It’s not like we’re bringing in players who haven’t featured all season. Everyone’s expecting us to get three points against Witham but they’re not bad.

“We’ve had them watched and they’ve got Jamie Guy up front, who I played with years ago and he’s still a handful.

“It’s the sort of game you’ve got to win if you want to win the league and the lads want to put right what happened against Enfield.”
