Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders considering changes for Sutton trip

Maidstone travel to Sutton tonight (Tuesday) with manager Jay Saunders tipping their opponents for a National League play-off place.

The teams came up together from National South last season, Paul Doswell's side taking the title and Stones beating Ebbsfleet in the play-off final.

Sutton are 13th on 23 points, seven adrift of the top five.

United are back in 18th after four defeats in a row.

Saunders said: "Dos has got a very good side. I still think they'll be there or thereabouts in the play-offs this year.

"They had a very good side last year, they've only strengthened this year so I'm expecting a really tough game."

Saunders is considering his options after Maidstone's 2-0 defeat by Gateshead at the weekend.

He added: "What makes it difficult for me is you're giving people chances every week and they're not taking them so it's meaning you're having to change the team every week.

"People have got to stake their claim and keep their shirts and at the moment they aren't doing that.

"At the moment you're looking at Tuesday and thinking we're going to have to change it again. It's going to be a tough one."

Alex Flisher (bruised back) should be OK after coming off on Saturday.
