Maidstone United chasing two new signings for Gateshead game

Maidstone could have two new signings in place by the time they go to Gateshead.

United are working hard to get deals over the line before travelling to the north east on Friday for an overnight stay.

The squad is stretched following the departure of Zavon Hines and Joe Pigott while Tom Wraight (hamstring) and Jamar Loza (groin) are injured.

Maidstone have dropped to 14th in the National League after 12 games without a win.

And boss Jay Saunders said: “We badly need to bring fresh blood in, there’s no doubt about it.

“When you’re having runs like this you need to get some fresh faces in, which we’re working on.

“Hopefully we’ll have one or two in time for Saturday.”

United are two points clear of Gateshead going into Saturday’s match at the International Stadium.

Saunders feels one result is all that’s needed to get his side going.

He said: “It’s one where we’ve got to go and get three points sooner rather than later.

“I’m confident if we can get three points on the board we’ll start a little run but at the moment confidence is really low.

“We’ve just got to go again, we’ve got to prepare the boys right and hopefully get a reaction.”
