Maidstone United will be in early for rearranged game against Macclesfield Town

Maidstone will make sure they arrive on time for tonight's rearranged game against Macclesfield.

The fixture was postponed a fortnight ago with most of the squad stuck in three-hour tailbacks on the M25 after a serious accident.

United have had a rethink in light of the postponement and will have the players in earlier.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "We've looked at it as a club and a staff and we'll be in earlier to have a pre-match meal.

"We'll be doing that now until the end of the season.

"We'll try it Wednesday, we'll then try it for the Good Friday game against Hartlepool.

"We're looking at doing something if we can but we'll make sure they're here on time.

"Rather than say being here for quarter to six we'll have them in at half past four for a bit of food and go from there."

Maidstone were criticised by some of their own fans after the postponement, with suggestions players should have been at the ground early afternoon.

That's simply not realistic but Saunders believes their new policy strikes the right balance.

He said: "There's nothing worse as a player than when you get to a game and you're sat about all day.

"We don't want to get in too early, we want to do it the right way and I think this will be a step in the right direction."

Seth Nana Twumasi returns from suspension while on-loan Ross Lafayette is available after missing Saturday's game against parent club Sutton.

There could also be a debut for new signing Greg Luer, who's joined on loan from Hull until the of the season.
