Maidstone United to sign either Tyler Campbell or Harley Willard

Jay Saunders is set to sign one of Maidstone's trialists.

Tyler Campbell and Harley Willard have caught the eye during pre-season and the boss is ready to offer one of them a deal.

The wingers both started Tuesday's friendly at Ashford, which Stones won 5-0.

Saunders said: "It was a decent enough performance and some of the young lads and trialists did themselves some favours.

"We’ve had Tyler Campbell in since the first pre-season training session and he’s done well. He’s scored four or five goals in three games and been positive so he’s done himself no harm.

"Harley Willard came in a little bit later. He was at Gills pre-season, he's just been released from Southampton and got recommended to us by Peter Taylor and Jamie Day.

"He’s a local lad and and, again, he’s done really well.

"The two of them have made it difficult for me not to be interested in them.

"Both play out wide. At the moment I’ve got Jamar Loza and Johan ter Horst injured so it’s an area where we’re considering (strengthening).

"I’m not sure we’ll take both of them. It would be a bit much to take both because we’ve got Jack Richards and Tom Wraight, who can play wide as well but certainly one of them we’ll look to do something with and we’ll make that decision in the next day or so."
