Maidstone United responded to a half-time rollicking in their 2-1 win over Harrow Borough on Tuesday night.

Boss Jay Saunders was unimpressed with the first-half performance as United trailed to Danny May's superb free-kick, awarded for a foul by Steve Watt.

Late goals from Alex Flisher and Frannie Collin made it 10 wins out of 11 for United who are five points clear at the top of the Ryman League Premier Division.

Saunders said: "I wasn't happy at half-time. As good as we've been - and I've said to them I'll give credit where it's due - we didn't deserve any after the first half.

"The goal could have been avoided. Frannie's got to hold it up better up top, it's then been cleared, Sonny Miles has let it bounce and Watty didn't get round the player and got booked.

"Don't get me wrong, it's an unbelievable free-kick - he couldn't have put it any more in the top corner - but the free-kick could have been avoided.

"The players set themselves standards and we weren't good enough by any stretch of the imagination.

"They dropped way below their standards but you've got to give them credit because second half they've gone out, created a hell of a lot of chances and won the game."
