Maidstone United are the early leaders in the Ryman League Premier Division after a 2-0 victory at VCD on Tuesday night.

Stones completed back-to-back wins thanks to goals from summer signings Jay May and Matt Bodkin.

May added to his strike in the opening-day win over Met Police by putting Stones in front from a long throw after 20 minutes.

Bodkin added Stones' second on the hour with a fine strike after collecting a clearance from his own corner.

Stones created plenty of chances against their old Kent League rivals and it took a fine block to deny Frannie Collin a third.

Maidstone go to Bognor Regis on Saturday.
