Police appeal after a crash on M26 leaves female prison officer with serious injuries

Police are appealing for information after a crash involving two cars, a lorry and a prison van left a woman with serious injuries.

The collision happened last Wednesday at around 11am on the hard shoulder between junctions 1 and 2a on the M26.

The crash involved a white Volkswagen Golf, a white Renault Magnum lorry, a blue Toyota Corolla and the GEOAmey van.

A female prison officer, in her 20s, who was standing on the hard shoulder sustained non-life threatening but serious injuries in the collision, while a second male officer, in his 40s, was also taken to hospital.

A 56-year-old man from the Netherlands was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been bailed until Tuesday, May 5, pending further inquiries.
