Detectives investigating a house fire are appealing for witnesses.

The blaze broke out at the home of an elderly man in Basted Lane, Borough Green, last Wednesday.

Three fire crews were called after the owner of the property found the front door alight around 10.30pm. He was inside the property at the time.

The garage next to the house was also on fire, and all the contents were destroyed. Two cars on the driveway were also alight.

The victim, aged in his 90s, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, and has been discharged.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any other information.
