Crash on London Road in Aylesford

Traffic came to a standstill during rush-hour after a woman was hit by a car in Aylesford.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital in a serious condition after being knocked down in London Road just before 3pm.

Queues are building up on the busy route, which was shut outside Sainsbury's until around 4.15pm.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 2.50pm on Tuesday 6 June 2017 to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on London Road, Aylesford.

"Officers are at the scene along with SECAMB and one woman has been treated for serious injuries and taken to a local hospital."

Traffic was slow between Hermitage Lane and Hall Road/Mills Road and did not return to normal until around 5.50pm.
