Councillors decide on controversial plans to build 635 new homes in Kings Hill, near West Malling.

Councillors have voted unanimously to approve controversial housing plans for Kings Hill.

The long-awaited decision was made at a well attended meeting by Tonbridge and Malling’s planning committee in Hadlow Manor Hotel, off Maidstone Road, to discuss a proposal to build 635 new homes in Kings Hill.

The application for outline permission was approved by the committee after the lengthy meeting, which was attended by around 60 people.

Liberty Property Trust, which owns the high-end estate, has applied for permission to build the homes635 houses, a primary school, skate park and two extra roads. It also intends to extend the community centre.

The idea has been met with concerns from homeowners who fear the extra properties will disrupt their community.

Hundreds of people attended a previous meeting of the parish council to express their concerns.
