Organisers of a music festival are already planning next year’s events as the after the fifth year proved successful.

Music@Malling concluded on Sunday after a week of activities, totalling 15 concerts.

As part of the celebrations hundreds of visitors attended a number of concerts in venues in and around the town, including primary school children who took to the stage alongside professional singers and dancers.

St Mary’s Church, West Malling, featured new work about the Grimm fairy tales by composer David Horne, a former winner of the piano section of BBC’s Young Musician of the Year.

Children from West Malling Primary School, Boughton Monchelsea, St George’s C of E in Wrotham and Trottiscliffe Primary School attended the concert on Thursday which featured specially commissioned music for the festival.

It was choreographed by English National Ballet and featured one of its leading dancers accompanied by the well known London ensemble Chamber Domaine conducted by Thomas Kemp.

School ensembles performed alongside London-based professionals who visited the schools to help them set up music groups and inspire the children.
