A police helicopter was called to help officers following a police chase in the early hours of this morning.

Shortly after midnight, Kent Police attempted to stop a vehicle following reports of suspicious behaviour in Station Road, Aylesford.

A police chase ensued as the driver fled the scene.

The helicopter was then called to help officers search for the driver.

A 20-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested at around 1am in New Road, East Malling, on suspicion of failing to stop when requested by police, dangerous driving and having no insurance.

He remains in police custody.
