Wouldham: Police search for driver involved in collision who fled the scene in Volkswagen Golf

The driver of a VW Golf who fled the scene of a crash and later dumped his car in a nearby field is being hunted by police.

Kent Police were called to the scene of the collision at 5.54pm yesterday.

Three cars were involved in the collision in Wouldham Road near the School Lane junction.

Photos from the crash appeared on the Facebook group Keep Wouldham Connected just after 6pm yesterday.

The photos show a blue Vauxhall Astra which had suffered damage to its front, and a black BMW which had mounted the pavement and ploughed into a fence. No serious injuries were reported.

Wouldham Resident Alison Smith, who took the photos, said: “I was stood in the kitchen with my two children when I heard a series of explosive type bangs.

“There was considerable debris all over the road. The BMW saloon was planted in the railings that protected the pathway and our houses.

"It’s lucky those railings are there otherwise it would have ended up in one of our kitchens.”

People posting comments under the photos said a VW Golf had been seen leaving the scene at speed. Comments suggest the driver was of stocky build and was wearing a light blue t-shirt.
