Comic Relief Red Nose Day song stars St James the Great Academy from Chapman Way, East Malling

An East Malling primary school have hit the big time after they were chosen to star in a charity video.

St James The Great Academy in Chapman Way is one of just three schools in the country to be featured in this year’s Comic Relief song.

The children, aged from five to 11, were filmed for the Making Funny Faces performance — which can be viewed on the Comic Relief website, the organisation’s YouTube channel and the website of production company Out of the Ark.

Last year’s video received 100,000 views and it is hoped this offering, which was released in the run up to Red Nose Day on March 13, will top that.

Boys and girls were sworn to secrecy after they were selected in October – with the design of the noses particularly confidential.

Headteacher Sylvia Crockett said: “It was a great privilege for staff and children to be involved in a day’s filming across the academy. Everyone enjoyed the experience, especially when we finished the day with a parade around our Learning Street in ‘Superhero’ costumes and red noses, singing the song.

"The children have been very good at keeping the red noses a secret. Everyone was very excited to see the finished film, and its even better than we imagined it would be.”

Red Nose Day is organised by Comic Relief to raise funds for projects in deprived parts of Africa.
