Kent Police confiscate knuckle duster, cannabis and cocaine in operation at Snodland station

A knuckle duster, cannabis, cocaine and amphetamines were seized during a police operation at Snodland train station.

Police using sniffer dogs visited the High Street station on Friday night and searched 18 people on suspicion of drug offences.

One 23-year-old man from Chatham was arrested for possession of amphetamines and has now been bailed until June 2.

"A clampdown on nuisance behaviour and criminal activity will continue, not just at the train station but throughout the town." — Sgt Joe Breen

Other offenders were cautioned for carrying drugs.

The operation follows the seizure of more than two kilos of cannabis and seven arrests earlier this month in the town.

Tonbridge and Malling Sergeant Joe Breen said the vast majority of people stopped had travelled to Snodland from other areas.

Sgt Breen said: "We spoke to many commuters and residents from Snodland who were supportive of the police action. This operation is a response to people’s concerns about anti-social behaviour and drugs. It is also a useful tool to target cross-border criminals who may be using the railway network.

"A clampdown on nuisance behaviour and criminal activity will continue, not just at the train station but throughout the town. We plan to hold more of these enforcement days in the future, so if you’re thinking of carrying drugs or using the train to target Snodland to commit crime we will be looking for you."

Forty eight fines were also issued to people for not having tickets.
