Firefighters were called out to two separate crashes in Gillingham on Thursday evening, when they had rescue people trapped in their vehicles.

A crew from Medway and Strood were first called out to Watling Street, pictured here, just after 7pm after two cars collided.

A woman in one of the vehicles was able to get out and was tended to by paramedics while a the man was assessed for his injuries before it was deemed safe to remove him.

Then about half an hour later, crews were called out to another two-car collision on the roundabout which leads on to the M2 at Hoath Way.

A man and a woman were both trapped in their vehicle and the crew had to cut the roof off to free them.

Crews spent about an hour at the scene and the crash caused traffic delays in the area.

The roundabout was partly closed, so traffic coming on to the motorway could only go coast-bound.
