Delays after three-vehicle crash on London-bound A2 between Strood and M2

Queues have been building after two cars and a van were involved in a crash this morning.

The London-bound carriageway of the A2 was closed as debris from the smash was scattered over the road.

The collision happened between the A289 and M2 J1/A289 for Strood.

Traffic began to build on the west-bound A289 to A226 Gravesend Road in Higham.

Motorists coming off the end of the M2 onto the A2 were unaffected, but road users joining from the A289 and the A2 from Strood were queuing behind the blockage.

All emergency services were called to the scene.

A diversion was set up and traffic on the A289 is being sent onto the east-bound M2 to turn around at J2.

The road was reopened by about 11.30am.
