Air ambulance called after M2 blocked between Gillingham and Sittingbourne

A motorcyclist is critical in hospital after a three-vehicle crash on the M2 last night.

Police want to speak to drivers after the crash at just gone 5pm on the slip road where traffic joins the M2 coast-bound at J4 for Gillingham.

The vehicles involved were a green Kawasaki motorbike, a black Lexus and a Mercedes HGV.

The rider of the bike, a man in his 20s from Sheerness, suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to a London hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Sergeant Hannah Brown, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We already have a number of eyewitness to what happened, but I urge anyone who saw this collision, who has yet to contact us, to please do so as soon as possible on 01622 798538, quoting reference AH/55/16."

The London-bound carriageway was also blocked by a crash at about 5.15pm last night.

That carriageway opened at about 6.30pm.
