The Met Office has warned people in Kent to stay cool as the heatwave looks set to stick around for a little longer.

A level three heatwave warning is in place for the coming days. This means temperatures are expected to remain above 31 degrees in the daytime and above 18 degrees at night.

We're being told while we're experiencing temperatures like this, we need to keep as cool as we can and keep an eye on older, younger and vulnerable people.

Here are some top tips on how to stay cool:

• If you have to go out in the heat, walk in the shade, and apply sunscreen of at least SPF15 with UVA protection. Remember to reapply after swimming
• Avoid extreme physical exertion – pace yourself
• Wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothes, a hat and sunglasses to protect your eyes

Today will remain dry with further long spells of sunshine, and a maximum temperature of 31c - dropping to a minimum of 15c overnight.

The outlook for Thursday, Friday and into the weekend is slighter fresher and cooler but mainly dry and bright, with some rain expected on Saturday.
