Later this afternoon, Kent Police said it was no longer appealing for information to locate Jonathan Plimmer who was reported missing from Gillingham following the discovery of the body.

But in an amended statement, they said the location had been incorrect, and the body linked to the search for the missing man had been found in Lower Rainham Road, Rainham.

They could not confirm the identity of the second body in Strood.

James Walker, spokesman for Kent Police added: "At present, we are unable to advise further on the identity of the body found in Strood due to the ongoing nature of our work."

The air ambulance was also called and was seen landing on nearby marshland at around 2.10pm.
