Rochester Bridge closed tonight for clean up

There will be temporary lane closures on Rochester Bridge this evening.

Essential work will be carried out on overnight which will force one lane to close.

The work is part of a routine cleaning programme ahead of the Christmas Lights installation.

A portion of the bridge was closed this morning.

Jim Booth of Arcadis, Bridge Engineers to the Trust, explained: “It may seem a little early to be putting up Christmas lights, but this is the last time we have any planned works on the bridges before the end of the year, and so the installation has been arranged to minimise the need for lane closures later.

“We appreciate people’s patience.”

The road will be closed from 9pm until 5am and the lights will be switched on towards the end of November.
