Medway's Rachael Burford helped England Women’s rugby team win the Plate final in the World Cup Sevens in Dubai on Saturday night.

Burford, who plays for Saracens, was in the side who defeated Canada 12-0 in the Plate final and she played a part in the move which led to England’s second try scored by Katherine Merchant.

England had progressed to the Plate final with a 12-7 victory over Spain in the semi-finals, after being knocked out of the main cup competition in a tense 17-10 quarter-final defeat by Australia - the eventual champions.
