Chatham boss Kevin Watson praised his side’s defensive work after they kept their second clean sheet in three Ryman League Division 1 North outings.

Tuesday’s goalless draw at Potters Bar extended the Chats’ unbeaten run to three matches and Watson, although disappointed not to win, drew positives from the game.

He said: "I was pleased with the performance. It took us a while to get to grips with the pitch and the way they play but once we did that, only one team was going to win it.

"We looked solid defensively as a team, particularly the back five. I would have liked three points but was pleased with the performance."

This weekend, Chatham return to Maidstone Road for a home game against Cheshunt.

Watson (pictured) said: "They’re physically quite strong. I just hope we can be more organised than them and show more quality in key areas.

"There’s no point us settling for draws because we need to progress. Even if we lose a couple of games, I’ll be happy if we’re winning more than we’re losing."

Watson confirmed that midfielder Matt Newman has left the club and joined Folkestone Invicta.
