Crash on the A2 at Sovereign Boulevard, in Gillingham, causes gridlock in the area

A three car smash on a main road in Gillingham has caused gridlock in the area for other motorists and resulted in two people being taken to hospital.

The crash happened on the A2 near Gillingham Business Park, happened shortly after 12.30pm on Sovereign Boulevard, in between the Bowater’s roundabout at Hoath Way and the Will Adams roundabout.

Ambulance crews and police were called out to the scene and two people were taken to hospital as a result.

The incident on the Gillingham-bound carriageway caused gridlock in the area.

One motorist in his 30s but didn’t want to be named, said: “I was travelling to Medway from Sittingbourne and when I got to Hoath Way it was just at gridlock.

“I spent about 20 minutes there trying to get thought the traffic.”

A spokesman for police said: “Kent Police attended a report of a three-car collision in Sovereign Boulevard, Gillingham.

“Officers and Secamb received the report at 12.26pm.

“Two people were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.”
