Cyclist injured in crash at Hempstead Valley shopping centre

A cyclist has been injured in a crash on the roundabout at Hempstead Valley in Gillingham.

The accident happened just after 5pm when the cyclist collided with a Peugeot 308 on the Wigmore Road side of the Hempstead Valley roundabout.

Eyewitnesses said the female cyclist was lying on the ground covered by a coat, being treated by a paramedic.

The woman was later taken to hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A second cyclist was also at the scene and a racing bike was seen lying on the roundabout.

Several motorists stopped to offer assistance.

The road was briefly closed but has now reopened.
