Can you solve the mystery of Dave the pink pigeon found in Chatham?

Chris Dixon was quite puzzled when a rather colourful pigeon dropped down from the sky near to where he works in Chatham earlier this week.

In fact, animal lover, Mr Dixon was so bemused about its colours he decided to take a picture of it and post it on Facebook.

He put the picture on the The Original ME Medway Postcode Group, to see if people could solve the mystery.

The bird, which he and his colleagues have affectionately called Dave, was found near Mr Dixon’s workplace in Primrose Close, Chatham, on Wednesday.

Dave, pictured here, seems to have pink wings and tinges of pink on other parts of his body.

Mr Dixon got quite a few comments on the page about the bird and some rather witty responses.

Some people suggested the Dave may have got lost on its way flying to the London Pride celebrations in the capital this weekend.

Stephen Hanrahan suggested his wings could have been dyed to confuse falcons and other birds of prey.

Mr Dixon said Dave has no ring on its leg and seems to be healthy enough and that he had given the animal some water and food.

Ian Stanley joked: “Because it’s fabulous darling.”

Iain ‘rocky’ Goldsmith wondered if the bird had been shot with a pink paint ball.

Merv Lamb suggested someone could be feeding it something which turned its wings pink.

He said: “It could be that some idiot is adding colour feed to a bird table.”

Two days after the post the mystery is still to be solved, but the picture has certainly rustled some feathers.

Mr Dixon said: “Dave dropped in on us at work in Primrose Close, Chatham on Wednesday. He’s still here now, quite happy and healthy.”
