Dealer, Luke Taylor had thousands of ecstasy tablets at home in Meresborough Road, Rainham

A driver’s erratic behaviour on a motorway led to his home being raided and the discovery of almost 2,800 ecstasy tablets.

Luke Taylor also had a quantity of cannabis and a small amount of cocaine.

The 23-year-old was in his Jaguar on the M2 on September 30 last year when officers saw him driving recklessly.

When stopped near Bluewater shopping centre by officers in a marked police car, he was found to have a small amount of herbal cannabis.

He was arrested and during a strip search he produced two wraps of cocaine from his trousers.

Prosecutor Trevor Wright said Taylor’s mobile phone was constantly receiving texts which appeared to be drug-related.

It was when officers went to his home in Meresborough Road, Rainham, and searched a garage they found 2,720 blue ecstasy tablets with a smiley face on them and 65 with a Rolex crown logo.

They also seized more than 107 grammes of cannabis, which was a mixture of skunk and “bud”, Mr Wright told Maidstone Crown Court.

Taylor was jailed for five years after admitting possessing ecstasy and cannabis with intent to supply and possessing cocaine.

A judge told him: “You have a job and a family who are supportive.

“They will feel very bitterly your incarceration for some years.” Mr Wright said Taylor had previous convictions for possessing ecstasy and cannabis.

Michael Stradling, defending, said there would have been others involved who were more sophisticated and higher up the chain.

“He knows the consequences of what he has done,” he said.

“He was holding these drugs for another. There was a reward to be had for him. He just made a terrible decision and got in with the wrong people.”

Judge Jeremy Carey said: “It is one thing to be a user and committing offences where you supply to your social circle, that is bad enough.

“But this kind of offending is at a different level altogether. Is this just greed?”

He told Taylor he must have known it was likely “the game was up” when he was stopped on the M2.

“Because there was a that quantity of Class A drugs, it means the court is bound to impose a very substantial sentence,” he added. “You played a significant role.”

The judge made an order depriving Taylor of his Jaguar.
